Private Internet Access is looking for an ambitious and tech-savvy community/social media manager to act as our brand ambassador, interact with our community, grow user engagement, and further our core mission of protecting users’ online privacy. 

As the community/social media manager for PIA, you will research, plan, implement, and manage a social media strategy that engages, informs, and provides support for our millions of users across all of our social media channels. You will drive organic engagement across our blog, Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, YouTube, and others. The ideal candidate is extremely organized and detail oriented, loves connecting with people, and is passionate about digital privacy, online freedom, and helping people navigate the internet in a safe and secure way.  

You must be comfortable working in an entirely remote environment and be able to work mixed hours as you interact with our international team.  


  • Represent the brand’s voice, mission, and purpose on social media 
  • Create and post engaging content for social media users using text, images, videos, and other multimedia as needed 
  • Plan and implement social media strategies and community-driven social media campaigns 
  • Create, manage, and maintain an editorial calendar and social media posting schedule 
  • Manage the brand’s blog and social media governance 
  • Quickly and adequately respond to user complains, questions, and comments 
  • Monitor, track, and optimize social media performance to grow followers and increase engagement across social media platforms 
  • Coordinate approaches with marketing and PR teams to ensure accurate brand representation 



  • At least 3 years experience managing social channels in B2C social media management, customer service, community management, PR, and/or other related fields (preferably working with large brands of over 100k followers) 
  • Expert-level knowledge of social media platforms, specifically Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube 
  • Experience and proficiency with social media tools like Canva, Photoshop, Buffer, Hootsuite, and/or others 
  • Exceptional written communication skills
  • Strong desire to build and manage a community around topics of online privacy  
  • Excellent competitor research skills; an ability to understand the scope of what’s working in the industry and how we can do it better 
  • Passionate and knowledgeable in information technology, cybersecurity, and VPNs 
  • Technical and programming knowledge (preferred)
